Intro to Bargello
The “Bargello” pattern is made from rectangles sewn into peaks and slopes of gradual color changes. This Bargello quilt technique, made with the quick-strip method, was developed by Alison Goss from Delaware. Participants will construct a twin sized quilt top to be finished at their leisure.
Prior to the first class, quilters need to choose 10 fabrics in a variety of prints that include lights, mediums and darks. You will need ¾ yard of each fabric AND you will need to cut them into 2” strips selvedge to selvedge (also known as width of fabric or WOF). We recommend cutting with a rotary cutter, mat, and acrylic ruler. If you don’t already own these, they are available for sale at the shop.
Paper Pieced Holiday Tree
This class teaches quilters the foundation paper piecing method on a larger scale. The paper pieced holiday tree measures 21 X 69 inches without borders! Our sample is in Christmas colors, but would look great as a Halloween or any holiday tree (embellish accordingly!)
Stenciling and Block Painting on Fabric
Saturday October 20
Participants will have an opportunity to learn and play with paint on fabric using stencils (bring your own) and Indian print blocks (we have some for sale, or to practice with). At the end of the class, we will discuss how to then put it all together as a quilt!
Drawstring Backpack Companion Class
We are inviting any combination of companions to come (mother/daughter, grandmother/grand-daughter, etc.) create drawstring backpacks together. These cute drawstring bags are all the rage in school for carrying supplies with ease! Companions can be parent and child, grandparent and grandchild, or any two individuals at least 12 years old. Children coming with a parent or grandparent should be at least 8 years old and able to focus on a 3-hour long project.
Blue Jay Pillow
Saturday November 3
Students will piece a beautiful Blue Jay and then use it to make a throw pillow slip cover! Makes a great gift for the holidays
