Artist’s Statement
A lifelong passion for fiber arts led Jim to quilting after many years of knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch.  He learned traditional quiltmaking while living in Houston in the late 1980’s and was quickly hooked.  Always one to experiment, Jim has explored a broad range of quilting techniques using graphic shapes and bold colors.  His quilts range from humorous cartoon-like works to abstract compositions to scenes inspired by the Maine coast.  Recently Jim’s focus has been fused applique accented by dense quilting and threadpainting, as well as wholecloth quilts from dyed and painted fabrics.
Jim enjoys sharing his trunk show and has presented to several guilds in Maine and Pennsylvania. In addition to quilts, he displays his ice-dyed fabrics and clothing.
A part time resident of St. George, ME, Jim and his wife also live in West Chester, PA.
